La primera novillada de la Feria de San Isidro dejó un nombre propio en Las Ventas: Álvaro Serrano. El madrileño salió a hombros por la Puerta Grande después de una actuación de enorme compromiso y personalidad frente a un lote de Montealto que exigió mucho y ofreció emoción en prácticamente todos sus turnos.

Madrid reconoció la entrega y el concepto de un novillero que volvió a demostrar que atraviesa uno de los momentos más sólidos de su carrera. Ya había dejado una grata impresión el pasado 1 de mayo, pero esta vez dio un paso adelante en la plaza más exigente del mundo.

Su primero, tercero de la tarde, fue un novillo encastado, con movilidad y temperamento, que no regaló una sola embestida. Serrano apostó desde el inicio por el sitio y el mando, soportando además un viento incómodo que dificultó la faena. Aun así, consiguió ligar series de notable profundidad, especialmente al natural, llevando siempre al animal muy toreado y por abajo. La estocada, efectiva y contundente, puso en sus manos la primera oreja de la tarde.

Pero fue en el sexto cuando terminó de desatarse la locura en los tendidos venteños. El de Montealto tuvo transmisión, clase y duración, y el novillero madrileño lo entendió desde el principio. Comenzó la labor con ayudados por alto de gran estética antes de construir una faena ligada y de mucha firmeza, alternando temple y profundidad por ambos pitones.

La plaza conectó rápidamente con una actuación madura, de torero asentado y convencido de sus posibilidades. Cada tanda fue elevando el tono de una faena que terminó calando con fuerza en el público madrileño. Tras dejar una estocada y necesitar el descabello, Serrano paseó una nueva oreja que le abría de par en par la Puerta Grande de Las Ventas.

La novillada de Montealto fue otro de los grandes argumentos del festejo. Los utreros ofrecieron movilidad, casta y emoción, obligando siempre a los novilleros a mantenerse muy firmes. Salvo el quinto, más apagado en el tramo final, el encierro mantuvo interés y fue ovacionado en el arrastre.

Menos fortuna tuvieron Tomás Bastos y Martín Morilla. Ambos dejaron detalles aislados, pero no lograron redondear sus actuaciones ni conectar con los tendidos. El acero terminó además por diluir sus opciones de triunfo.

La tarde confirmó a Álvaro Serrano como uno de los nombres propios del escalafón novilleril y dejó en Madrid una sensación clara: el madrileño quiere abrirse paso definitivamente en el circuito grande.

Madrid acknowledged the commitment and style of a novillero who once again confirmed he is going through one of the strongest moments of his career. He had already made a positive impression on 1 May, but this time he took a major step forward at the world’s most demanding bullring.

His first opponent, the third novillo of the afternoon, showed plenty of caste, mobility and temperament, never offering an easy pass. Serrano stood his ground from the outset, handling difficult swirling winds that constantly threatened the flow of the faena. Despite the conditions, he managed to link together deep, powerful series, especially with the left hand, always keeping the animal low and fully engaged in the muleta. A decisive sword thrust earned him the first ear of the afternoon.

It was with the sixth, however, that the atmosphere inside Las Ventas truly exploded. The Montealto novillo possessed quality, rhythm and transmission, and Serrano understood him perfectly from the opening moments. He began with elegant high passes before building a composed and tightly structured faena, combining control, rhythm and depth on both sides.

The crowd quickly connected with a mature performance from a bullfighter who looked fully assured and convinced of his ability. Each series increased the intensity of a faena that steadily won over the Madrid spectators. After another effective sword thrust, followed by the descabello, Serrano secured a second ear and the long-awaited Puerta Grande triumph.

The Montealto novillada also played a major role in the success of the afternoon. The young bulls offered movement, caste and excitement throughout, demanding firmness and commitment from the novilleros. Apart from the fifth, which faded in the final stages, the whole entry maintained interest and most were applauded in the arrastre.

Tomás Bastos and Martín Morilla enjoyed less success. Both showed isolated moments of quality but were unable to fully connect with the crowd or complete their performances effectively with the sword.

The afternoon confirmed Álvaro Serrano as one of the leading names in the novillero ranks and left Madrid with a clear feeling: the young Madrilenian is determined to establish himself among the sport’s major figures.
