Holy Week 2025 will be anything but ordinary at the Las Ventas bullring. The schedule features one of the most torista-focused line-ups in recent memory, catering to the most discerning fans of this legendary venue. Three extraordinary events are planned: on Palm Sunday (13 April), Easter Sunday (20 April), and Sunday, 27 April, showcasing three prestigious livestock herds with a rich history in this iconic ring.

On Palm Sunday, the bulls of Valdellán return to Las Ventas. This unique herd, based in León, has earned its place in the spotlight thanks to its impressive performances in southern France and, most notably, in Madrid’s monumental arena.

Valdellán’s bulls, primarily of the Santa Coloma lineage, descend from Pilar Población’s herd. They are renowned for their spirit and challenge. Memorable bulls like “Navarro” (fought by Fernando Robleño in 2018), “Carasucia” (fought by Christian Escribano in San Isidro 2019), and “Mochuelo” (fought by Damián Castaño in 2023) have left their mark on Las Ventas with their courage and exceptional behaviour in the ring.

Antonio Ferrera, a seasoned expert in handling such bulls, will lead the charge, accompanied by rising stars David de Miranda and Alejandro Mora, the latter making his confirmation of alternative.

On Easter Sunday, the spotlight turns to the historic Palha herd from Portugal. Known as one of the most iconic livestock farms in the country, Palha’s roots trace back to vazqueña bloodlines, now infused with Parladé and a touch of Baltasar Ibán, adding character and bravery to these unique bulls.

The legendary bull “Rabiosillo,” fought by Sánchez Vara during San Isidro 2009, remains etched in the memory of Las Ventas. This time, the experienced Rafaelillo joins forces with promising talents Juan Leal and Francisco de Manuel to face Palha’s imposing bulls.

Finally, on Sunday, 27 April, the month concludes with bulls from the renowned Saltillo herd, led by José Joaquín Moreno Silva. Saltillo bulls are famous for offering matadors moments of triumph—like “Viergado,” fought by José Carlos Venegas—and for their unpredictable nature, as demonstrated by the infamous “Cazarratas,” one of the most dangerous bulls in recent Las Ventas history.

This thrilling challenge will be taken on by Javier Castaño, Luis Gerpe, and Cristóbal Reyes, who will confirm his alternative.
